Dr. Ana Duarte Named 2016 Physician of the Year by the Vascular Birthmarks Foundation

October 13, 2016 – The Vascular Birthmarks Foundation presented Dr. Ana Duarte with a 2016 Physician of the Year Award for outstanding service in the diagnosis and treatment of children affected by a vascular birthmark.

Sickle Cell Family Reunion 2016

September 20, 2016 – Patients treated by the Sickle Cell Comprehensive Center at Nicklaus Children’s reunited with hospital care team for a day of fun at Action Town Florida, an indoor entertainment facility with many attractions for kids of all ages.

EKG Screening Event at Miami Dancity School

June 20, 2016 – Nicklaus Children’s Heart Program, in conjunction with @theBreannaVergaraFoundation, recently hosted an EKG4Bre free screening event at Miami Dancity School to help identify dancers at risk for heart anomalies that can lead to sudden cardiac death (SCD).

May 03, 2016 – The Victor Center for the Prevention of Jewish Genetic Diseases at Nicklaus Children's Hospital partnered with The Tribe, a young Jewish adult group based in Miami Beach, for "Don't Get Passed over. Get Screened!" During this event that took place at The Clevelander in Marlins Park, young adults learned about Jewish genetic diseases and ways to screen for them. They also learned of an upcoming screening at Temple Beth Sholom in Miami Beach on May 17 for people ranging in ages 18-44.
