May was Skin Cancer Detection and Prevention Month. The department of Dermatology at Nicklaus children's Hospital provided a free skin cancer screening to the community (adults and children) on May 25, 2015.

The Victor Center for the Prevention of Jewish Genetic Diseases at Nicklaus Children's Hospital partnered with The Tribe, a young Jewish adult group based in Miami Beach, for "Don't Get Passed over. Get Screened!" During this event that took place at The Clevelander in Marlins Park, young adults learned about Jewish genetic diseases and ways to screen for them. They also learned of an upcoming screening at Temple Beth Sholom in Miami Beach on May 17 for people ranging in ages 18-44.
